This is the brief introduction
to a video/clipshow made for a G4TV series pitch.
"Here's
a short list of G4's reasons for not picking up MEGA64:
'They're too
niche'.
'No one will
understand them.'
'Their humor
isn't broad enough.'
'They're not
that funny.'
'Too low budget.'
'The concept
can't support a whole show.'
How do I know
this? Because at one time I was a production assistant/production coordinator/segment
producer/assistant director/writer/editor for the defunct TechTV, now G4.
>
I didn't want
to say anything about this before, but last weekend, Rocco and I decided to
let the rest of you in on the secret.
Even at the
very end, when I was just jockeying for a mention on "Unscrewed"
or "The Screen Savers" we were being dicked around. The woman who
booked guests for "Unscrewed" didn't play videogames and didn't
even know who "Zelda" was. One TSS producer talked a lot about bringing
MEGA64 on for a continuous bit, then just dropped off the map before quitting
the network altogether.
So, do you want
to know what you're going to get from G4 in 2005?
More Robot Wars.
More G4TV.com.
Drift Racing.
TSS getting
canned.
"Girls
gone Wired" - a rip-off of a segment from "Unscrewed with Martin
Sargent"
A new "reality"
series about LAN parties.
But you sure
as shit aren't getting MEGA64. "
